O vinho Aliás tinto 2013 figura na edição de Setembro da Revista de Vinhos como a Escolha de Luís Lopes, com a classificação de 17,5 pontos.
The wine “Aliás” red 2013 pops up in the September issue of “Revista de Vinhos” as the Choice of the wine writer Luís Lopes, with 17,5 pts.
This is the debut of “Aliás” red, that works as a second brand of the rare “Outrora”. Made from selected grapes from another part of the “Cadoiços” old vineyard that has originated 2000 bottles. The winemakers João Soares and Nuno do Ó wanted to make a wine with more delicacy and finesse than Outrora. Goal accomplished. Beautifull aromatic presence with great purity in fruit, based in wild berries with a touch of spices. Great elegance in the mouth, suggesting fresh cherries in a juicy style. Os vinhos Aliás “Branco de Outrora” 2012 e Outrora “Clássico” 2011, foram distinguidos no passado dia 13 de Fevereiro na gala da Revista de Vinhos: Os Melhores do Ano.
Ambos os vinhos ganharam o prémio: Os Melhores da Região da Bairrada. Para o Aliás é uma “EXCELENTE” estreia e para o “Clássico” Outrora, é já a terceira vez consecutiva que este se atreve a caminhar entre os melhores…
The wines Aliás “Branco de Outrora” 2012 and Outrora “Clássico” 2011, were honored in the past 13th of February in the Revista de Vinhos Gala: The Best of the Year.
Both wines have won the award: The best from the Bairrada Region. For “Aliás” it is an excellent premiere and for the classic “Outrora” it is the third consecutive time, that it dares to walk among the best…
“Bical from old vines, fermented in oak barrel. Impressive in the “finesse” and complexity, vegetables, spices, earth, minerals, flowers and citrus fruits. Very serious, very firm, with crisp acidity, full of lightness, refinement and glow.”
“The great quality fruit reveals in the first impact, in a very complex and spicy profile. The barrel smoothed the tannins without imposing. The wine is very solid, light but full, powerful but civilized.”
Aliás,…deste, já não há mais!
Este vinho nasceu das videiras centenárias da casta Bical que encontramos nas vinhas velhas da Bairrada. É uma produção muito pequena de apenas 300 garrafas de um vinho feito de forma bastante tradicional e que, pela sua raridade, estará apenas presente num número reduzido de lojas.
A vindima manual e uma minuciosa seleção de uvas, quase que tornam este vinho numa rara peça de relojoaria. As melhores uvas de Bical são selecionadas de entre as videiras desta casta que se encontram espalhadas pela nossa vinha centenária. A vinificação é bastante artesanal, sendo as uvas cuidadosamente espremidas numa pequena e antiga prensa, e o mosto encaminhado imediatamente para a barrica de carvalho, onde fermenta e estagia durante 10 meses.
Este branco de “Outrora” tem uma graduação alcoólica de apenas 11,5 % e tem um perfil antagónico ao dos brancos modernos. Austero, fresco e complexo, dispensa a fruta efémera e faz-nos desejar que houvesse mais. Mas, na verdade, à data que escrevo este post e parafraseando o António Silva e o Vasco Santana: “deste,…já não há mais!”.
Talvez ainda o encontrem nalguma garrafeira.
A revista de vinhos deu-lhe a fantástica pontuação de 18 valores. Eis o que acharam do vinho:
“This wine was born of the centenarian grape vines from the variety Bical that we find in old Bairrada vineyards. It is a very small production of only 300 bottles of a wine made in a very traditional fashion and that, because of its rarity, will only be available in a limited number of stores. The manual harvest and a careful selection of grapes, almost transform this wine in a rare timepiece. Best Bical grapes are selected from among the vines of this variety that are scattered throughout our vineyard. The wine making is pretty much handcrafted, with the grapes carefully pressed in a small, antique press, and the juice immediately falling into oak barrels where it ferments and is aged for 10 months.”
This white wine of times past has an alcohol content of only 11.5% and has an antagonistic profile comparing to modern whites. Austere, fresh and complex it passes on the ephemeral fruit notes and makes us wish for more. But in fact, at the time of writing this post, the truth is that it is all sold out! You may still find it in one or two Portuguese wine stores.
